Very immersive experience
The amount of allies you have combined with the advanced AI and vocal presence of your team mates really makes you feel like you were part of a squad.
The use of sound in the game conbined with the visceral action made you feel like you were in a real war

Introduced the Limit Break, which was similar to desperation attack but you could use it when you didn't have super low health, just when the limit break bar filled up. First RPG to introduce a lot of cinematics in the game, immersing the player even more.

Final Fantasy III was released.
It introduced summons into the FF genre. Furthermore, when you recieve damage it appears above the character. There was also a skill system and class alingment.
