On April 1, 1976 the Apple Computer Co. was created. In May of that same year the first Apple went on sale. The very popular Apple II came out about a year later (June 5, 1977). Consider also that a year earlier in 1975, IBM released the IBM 5100 portable computer. These two events combined to signal a significant turn of computing from a business model to a more “Personal Computer”. People were able to purchase computers to enable them to process data, send form letters, create computer programs, and more to accomplish personal and professional tasks more quickly. As the use of PC grew, we began to see more educational institutions incorporating them into the learning process.
