US-Mexico - Gold Cup Final − 24 June, 2007
Here I am watching the Gold Cup on a Sunday afternoon with Steph. She has a headache and is in bed with me watching the coverage in Spanish on Univision. The first half just ended and Mexico is winning 1-0. Their goal was earned and the US has had their chances too. So far, very evenly matched and I'm actually impressed with both teams. This is very good soccer being played. If I am disappointed it's because the game is being played at Soldier Field in Chicago and it may as well be an away game. There are so few US soccer fans that we have a hard time cheering on our team. Sad. The second half, I hope, will turn the tide some. The only US-Mexico game I've watched that we've won was in the 2002 World Cup in Korea. I stayed up late for that one. Otherwise, I'm beginning to think I'm a jinx.
