Jamendo: evolution − 27 November, 2006
My first Jamendo album, evolution, was released on this date.
It was a leap of faith for me to bring my music to the Internet. Before this date, I had only played in other bands; releasing my solo work, which, admittedly, is unusual, took me a long time to decide to do.
This first album was wild. I come from a jazz background, and so many of my tunes have complex harmonies and melodies; being a bass player, I appreciate the value of the groove. Combine these together with some odd time signatures and a desire to create something different, and you have my next step -- evolution.

Hi, pepero -- I'm totally amazed someone is reading this while I type. I'm brand new here on dandelife. Say, if I have a comment on your comment, is this the proper etiquette around here, or am I supposed to reply on your page somewhere?
Thanks for listening to my album -- I've been doing music for a while now, but kept my own material to myself all the way to the date you see here. So when someone cares enough to comment, I really appreciate it.

i've been a big jazz fan since i was 18 and i worked at a hallmark card shop where the owner only played music by john coltrane, charlie parker, miles davis, thelonius monk, etc. your stories and music reminded me of my love of jazz and all the concerts i've been to. thanks for sharing your stories. welcome to dandelife. :-)

Thanks for the add to your friends! I'm still going through the newbie phase, and I can't figure out elementary things like how to access my friends list (I can see it pop up on yours, but not on mine . . . man, that could give someone a Charlie Brown complex, eh?)
I love John Coltrane. For a while, back in the beginning, I was practicing three hours a night -- not measured by block of time, either, I actually logged in only the minutes I was actually playing music, not getting out books or turning pages or setting up equipment. I got the idea from Coltrane. One night, according to his biography, he was playing at a club, and when the time came for McCoy Tyner and Elvin Jones to take their solos, he actually went offstage and into the bathroom--to practice!

one of my fav jazz musicians is rashaan roland kirk. your stories remind me of so many jazz concerts i've gone to. once i went to the new orleans jazz & heritage festival, i saw lots of great musians perform, from ellis marsalis to ornette coleman. when i get a chance i want to post my jazz stories too. btw, if you have any specific dandelife questions you can look in the *help* section.
