Coaching Youth Volleyball − 28 September, 2006
I had just started teaching a volleyball clinic to 4th through 6th grade kids. I coached with a woman amed Jenny there who coached for the local junior volleyball club, Appleton Excel although I didn't know that at the time.
On this day, I went to the local high school girls volleyball game between Appleton East and Menasha. it was there that I met Gary J. Gary is the president of Appleton Excel. It was a chance meeting as I was keeping score on my own sheet and watching the game, in hopes to someday coach high school I wanted to keep up with the game and it all came back to me fairly quickly.
He introduced himself and asked if I'd like to coach for Appleton Excel. I verbally accepted and gave him my email so he could send me some information.
A few days later I received the information, filled it out and faxed it to the office and I got a call a few days later from Jim, the Vice President of the Club and he gave me an interview. It looks like I'll be coaching for them but I'm unsure of what age level. This year there will be 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18s with 3 teams under each age group from A level, B, and C. I'm sure I'll find a spot.
We'll see, but either way, I'm happy to be completely back in Volleyball after a few years off.
